Local History Newspapers & Maps

The Local History Center includes biographical and subject files generated largely from articles clipped from local newspapers, such as the Palos Verdes Peninsula News, the Daily Breeze, and the Los Angeles Times.  Started in 1937, the Palos Verdes Peninsula News is the longest-running publication documenting the Peninsula community.

Thanks to a generous gift from the Peninsula Friends of the Library, the first thirty years (1937-1967) of the Palos Verdes Peninsula News is now available online!  Over this period, the title of the paper included the Palos Verdes Peninsula News, the Rolling Hills Herald and the Hollywood Riviera TribuneThe papers can be viewed on the California Digital Newspaper Collection website.

A small group of historic and topographical maps of the Peninsula comprise the map collection.  These are currently undergoing re-organization, but are available for perusal with docent assistance.
