Mary Shelley’s monstrous classic, Frankenstein, was published 200 years ago this year.
In celebration of her work, which started the science fiction literature genre, PVLD is hosting a series of events to celebrate the original work and the works it has since inspired. From book discussions delving into the deeper themes of the book, and a film screening of the original 1930s adaptation featuring Boris Karloff in his memorable role as Dr. Frankenstein’s creation, to a discussion with Dr. Pravina Cooper about the books, films, and social impact Mary Shelley has since inspired.
Teens are also invited to partake in a Frankenstein moment of their own at our FrankenToys program where they can make their own creation out of various toy parts.
For more information about these programs check out the calendar of events at pvld.org/calendar or contact us at 310-377-9584 ext. 601.
