I had no idea of the extensive exploits and influence of The Vikings. This is a fascinating series exploring those early explorers told in a thoroughly entertaining manner. Professor Harl has an excellent voice for recording, he is easy to understand and his voice is pleasant to listen to for hours, an excellent quality since the series amounts to 18 discs. He presents not only a clear time line of events but the history of the various Scandinavian other nations and persons involved. There is ample discussion of the conditions of physical life, beliefs, mores, theology and technology and mention of the sources of this information to make a wonderful picture of the life and times.
I picked them up out of curiosity (in ignorance), wondering how one could do a three part series on The Vikings. Now I know, it could have been larger... and I would have listened to them all.
