Southwest Manuscripters: Stephen Smoke

Where: Peninsula Center Library at Community Room
First formed in 1949, Southwest Manuscripters is the longest active organization of writers west of the Rockies, and our goal is to nurture up-and-coming writers, with the goal of getting them published.
Please join us for our monthly meetings, typically held on the third Monday of the month in the Community Room of the Peninsula Center Library. Guests are always welcome. Each meeting features a guest speaker who is a professional writer or an executive in the publishing industry.
For the month of March, we welcome accomplished novelist, screenwriter, musician, and businessman Stephen Smoke. He is the author of 17 novels, including Black Butterfly, Pacific Coast Highway, and Pacific Blues, under his own and other names. He has also written several non-fiction books, including the popular Bill of Responsibilities series and the recent Palos Verdes Peninsula Artists book. Mr. Smoke has written and directed feature films, including Street Crimes (starring Dennis Farina) and Final Impact and has written screenplays for others, including Magic Kid.

PVLD Knit-a-thon

People of ALL AGES are invited to join us as we knit and crochet 7x9 sections as part of the Warm Up America! program. The sections will be collected and combined to form an afghan that will be donated to a local shelter.
If you know how to knit, bring your needles and yarn. If you have needles or scrap yarn to donate, please bring those items as well! If you are new to knitting, no problem! We have needles, yarn and volunteers to teach you how to knit.

Miraleste Winter Choral Concert "Let There Be Music"

Miraleste Winter Choral Concert "Let There Be Music" will take place on Thursday night, March 11, at 7 pm ($5 admission fee which goes entirely to help fund our accompanist Linda Muggeridge) and on Friday morning, March 12 at 9:25 am. The Miraleste Vocal Ensemble will have just returned from their March 5 triumph (we hope) of performing at Disneyland. They will perform (among other numbers) a costumed version of "The Joint is Jumpin'" accompanied by the Miraleste Jazz Band and of course Linda Muggeridge. The Sixth Grade Chorus will also perform
